Educational Opportunities

Youth that age out of foster care are in a unique position of having several scholarships available to them. Deadlines for many scholarships come early, so get started on applying right after the first of the New Year! This will ensure funding for the upcoming Fall semester.


Below are links to the four most common scholarships available to former foster youth.

FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid
ETV – Education and Training Voucher

Talk with your case worker or call the Children’s Cabinet at 775.856.6200 for additional information regarding any of the above scholarships.
Also- don’t forget about the Millennium scholarship as well. See your high school counselor for that and other potential scholarship opportunities.
