Rental & Deposit Assistance Program
Connecting Families with Resources to Sustain Stable Living
The Rental and Deposit Assistance Program, funded by the Low-Income Housing Trust Fund (LIHTF), helps Washoe County residents who need extra support covering essential housing costs. Life can be unpredictable, and families or individuals may face challenges paying rent, security deposits, or utility bills. This program provides short-term financial assistance to help residents stay safely housed and maintain stability in their day-to-day living.
How We Help Residents
Financial Assistance for Housing Costs: The program provides short-term support to help cover rent, security deposits, or utility bills, ensuring residents can remain safely and stably housed.
Promoting Household Stability: By addressing immediate financial pressures, residents can focus on long-term planning, work, education, and family needs without the added worry of losing housing.
Connecting to Resources: Staff assist applicants with eligibility verification and guidance, and connect residents to additional services to support sustainable living beyond the assistance period.
Eligibility
To qualify for assistance, individuals or households must meet the following requirements:
Income: Annual gross household income at or below low-income guidelines
Household Size: Number of household members is verified
Housing: Rent must be at or below fair market value
Financial Sustainability: Ability to remain financially stable after receiving assistance
Note: Funding is limited and not guaranteed. Requests are handled in the order they are received, and assistance may only cover part of eligible expenses.
