Washoe Development Partners

Washoe County Business and Development Services teams partner with state, regional and local agencies to ensure that local businesses and development meet required public safety regulations. This includes distributing plans for review and approval. Partnering agencies may charge additional fees or required internal administrative permits.

 

Utility Districts and public water authorities review plans to ensure proper connection to water supply, confirm the ability to serve/provide water and sewer services based on the proposed use and fixtures, connection to sewer, and/or location replacement of septic systems.

Fire Protection Districts review projects to ensure the ability for public safety equipment to reach the property for fire protection, occupants have the ability to exit the property, fire personnel can access the property, hazardous waste is properly stored, equipment does not pose a threat to public safety, safety plans are developed and maintained, additional protection measures are installed as necessary include fire sprinkler systems.

Officials responsible for maintaining the health and welfare of the public, environment and wildlife review plans to ensure that they meet federal, regional and local mandates and planning documents. This includes protecting wildlife cooridors and habitat, providing protections for air quality during and after construction, and protecting public health through proper food service delivery and access to water systems.

New projects and proposed changes to current sites are reviewed by the Washoe County Engineering Team to ensure that the roads meet minimum safety standards, the project is accessible and there are pedestrian safety measures in place. In addition, the team works with regional partners for their feedback on the projects implications to regional highways, streets, and conformance with master plans.

The Washoe County CSD Planning team ensures compliance with local community planning documents and also coordinates efforts regionally throughout the County to ensure that the  projects are also in alignment with concepts for development across the region. Partnering agencies include:
