Current Occupation:
I am a retired Air Force Lt Col, having served for nearly 22 years. Upon retirement in June of 2014, I served as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher in the WC School District for 16 months, teaching math and science at North Valleys and Damonte Ranch High Schools, respectively. From 2016-2019, I served as the ASVAB Test Administrator for Northern Nevada. During the timeframe of 2014 to the present, I have also served on several local campaigns, and ran for office during the 2018 (WC Treasurer) and 2022 (NV Senate, SD13) election cycles. In addition, I have served our community on the Reno NAB, WC CAB, WC Audit Committee and WC Health District's Sewer, Wastewater and Sanitation Hearing Board (current; chair).
Government Background:
My government experience started when I was 16-years-old working as a Page in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation from high school, I received an AFROTC scholarship to attend Arizona State University and obtain an undergraduate engineering degree and commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. During my AF career, I served as a scientist, analyst and engineer in both the laboratory and flight test environments. I also worked on the HQ USAF Staff at The Pentagon, and taught both at the US Air Force Academy (as a Deputy Department Head) and (as a unit commander) for a university-level AFROTC Program.
Reason for seeking position:
My passion is Service! And, as a life-long learner, I believe that one's inner drive for knowledge determines how far they can go in life. I want to ensure that every young person in Nevada has the opportunity to become successful.

Nevada's K-12 education system is BROKEN. Soon, if it hasn't already, this will negatively impact our economy. I have the tools, drive and desire to be a key contributor to fixing this problem. I will also restore respect for education and the teaching profession here in Nevada. We must institute programs that will help our children build successful futures. One such opportunity is to partner with businesses in our State to offer training programs in the Trades (i.e., welding, electrical, plumbing, etc.) to our high school students. We must provide our motivated students who do not wish to immediately enter college upon graduation the opportunity to complete a dual-track diploma and Trade certification program that will enable them to obtain good-paying, in-demand jobs upon graduation.
