I have more than 40 years of Government labor relations training and experience. I have been recognized expert in Nevada Public Sector Labor relations. I was appointed by the Reno City Council to the Downtown Police District Committee.
Reason for seeking position:
In my dealings over the past twenty plus years with the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees, current and former Superintendents, General Counsel and their staff, Human Resources and Labor Relations offices and their staff, I have noticed that there appears to be a severe lack of professional communication, transparency and open governance. Secrecy and an unwillingness to share important information with the public appears to be the norm. Too often outside counsel is retained to resolve school district issues and the Board of Trustees authorizes needlessly spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for services that should be dealt with in the school district's legal department. I believe it is necessary to correct this wasteful use of money that should be going to our children's education and funding additional dollars for our employees.

The current Board of Trustees, including my own District D representative, have shown to be unwilling to speak with or hear the concerns of their constituents. I have asked to speak with Board members to discuss issues that I believe to be vital to the employees and students and have been ignored. Education should be open and transparent. I am seeking this position to advocate for accountability, transparency, open government and protection of our children and employees. The public deserves to know what is going on in the school district. Getting public information from the school district is nearly impossible.
I have spent the last 54 years of my life advocating for what's right. Trust in government is lacking. Restoring trust in government is what I am about. My personal integrity and honor is what I have to offer. My personal advocacy for the safety of our students, the fair treatment of our employees, and the honest, effective use of public monies is well documented and I am ready to carry this advocacy forward as an elected member of the Washoe County School Board. I respectfully request your vote.
