Homemaker Program
Helping Seniors Stay Safe & Independent in Their Homes
The Homemaker Program provides light housekeeping, chore assistance, and support services to help older adults maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living environment. This program is designed for individuals who, due to physical, cognitive, or other functional limitations, are unable to complete essential household tasks on their own. By assisting with routine chores, the program helps seniors remain independent and reduces the risk of accidents in the home.
How We Support Participants
Light Housekeeping & Chores: Trained Homemaker Aides assist with tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry, changing linens, meal preparation, and other essential household duties.
Home Safety & Comfort: By maintaining a clean and organized home, participants are able to move about more safely and comfortably, supporting overall wellbeing and reducing the risk of falls or injuries.
Who Can Benefit
The Homemaker Program is available to Washoe County residents aged 60 and older who are experiencing functional limitations that prevent them from completing regular household tasks. This service is especially beneficial for individuals who:
- Live independently or with limited support
- Have difficulty managing daily chores due to health or mobility issues
- Are at increased risk of falls or injury due to clutter or unclean living conditions
Note: Services are provided based on available funding and program capacity. A waitlist may apply.
