We are so excited to celebrate the planet we love with a week full of Earth Day related activities!

On Sunday, (sign-up necessary) join our favorite Forest Therapy guide, Julie Baum, for a spring time walk. This experience is best suited for older children and adults. For more information, visit Julie's website. The walk is $25 per person, and $20 dollars for May Arboretum Society members. Spots are limited and registration is required. To register click here, or email Julie at holisticlivingnv@gmail.com. To claim your MAS discount code, email Hannah at hhill@washoecounty.gov.

On Monday, (drop in event) join us in Burke Garden for some kid focused crafts and other activities. We will make seed bombs from paper pulp, plant seeds and decorate their pots, and do a scavenger hunt. This is also a great time to pick up a Jr. Naturalist pack. Drop in any time between 3 and 5 pm. Click here for a pin to the location.

On Tuesday, (sign-up necessary) we will have our weekly Little Sprouts program, but this time with an Earth Day twist. This session will be filled with stories, crafts, and activities all about the earth! Sign up for this session and others here.

On Wednesday, (sign-up necessary) we will explore the gardens on a special walk looking for feathered friends. This walk is suitable for folks of all ages and bird watching experience levels. See birds freshly returned from migration, sporting their mating plumage! A limited number of binoculars are available for check-out as needed. This walk departs the West Entrance at 3:30. Click here for a link to the location. Sign up here.

On Friday, (sign-up necessary) join us to celebrate Arbor Day. In honor of this special day, we will have free tours for the public. See the Arboretum as it begins to come back to life with blooms, and learn about all the trees we love and care for. These tours will depart the West Entrance at 3pm and 4pm. Click here for a link to the location. Sign up here.

ALSO, all week you can drop by the office (or any of the above events) and pick up a Jr. Naturalist packet. This packet is full of self guided activities to explore the gardens a bit deeper, and is intended for elementary aged children. Once completed, send an email to hhill@washoecounty.gov or stop by during our office hours (7am-3pm, M-F) to claim your free badge to show off your status as a Jr. Naturalist.
