Summer Nature Days

This summer, join us for nature focused fun!

On select Wednesdays, kids can enjoy the fun of nature journaling, guided by an Arboretum educator. Each session will explore a different section of the park, and will challenge kids to hone in observation skills. We ask participants provide their own journals and writing utensils. Registration is required!

On select Thursdays, kids are invited to join us for a nature focused lesson. These lessons will cover various themes, but will always include fun activities like science demonstrations, crafts, and games. Registration is required!

For both events, there is no admission price, though we appreciate donations toward the program. Parents must be present for the duration of the lessons.

You can register your family here! Please make sure to include all children who will attend so that there is plenty of supplies prepared.

“What do I wonder? What do I notice? What does it remind me of?”

These are questions naturalists ask themselves every day. Now you and your budding naturalist can foster this sense of discovery at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden with our Naturalist Program!

The Jr. Naturalist Guide is for grade k-5, and helps you to explore the whole arboretum. Special events will be hosted intermittently to earn badges, check back again to see when our next event will be!

Girl and Boy scout troops, as well as other groups of ~10, can also schedule a time to earn this distinction as a group by emailing Hannah at hhill@washoecounty.gov
