Description of visual above: This graph shows the number of marriage licenses per year issued from the Washoe County Clerk's Office going back to 1871. For years 1999 onward, monthly data for each year is also available. Users are able to select the date range of data to be viewed and whether monthly or yearly data is viewed. Graph overall shows a relatively low issuance of licenses starting in 1871 and slowly trending upward until 1927 when licenses increased dramatically to about 1,500. Licenses had a couple relative peaks in 1942 (27k) and 1946 (29k), but had an all-time peak in 1978 (37k). Since that time marriage licenses have decreased over time. Monthly data shows some cyclical trends like summer months being higher and winter months typically being lower when viewed year over year.
