Family Shelter
Supporting Families and Children Through Safety and Stability
The Family Shelter at Our Place provides temporary housing and support specifically for families with children experiencing homelessness. The shelter offers a safe, structured environment where families can stay together, meet immediate needs, and access programs and resources designed to strengthen family unity, support children’s well-being, and help caregivers move toward long-term stability.
How We Support Families Experiencing Homelessness
Safe, Family-Centered Shelter: Families have access to secure sleeping areas, child-friendly spaces, meals for all ages, and hygiene facilities. The environment is designed to keep families together while providing stability and a sense of routine.
Programs for Children and Caregivers: The shelter offers structured activities and enrichment opportunities for children, while caregivers can access parenting resources, educational support, and guidance on family well-being.
Pathways to Stability: Families are connected to community programs, housing resources, and support services that help them regain independence, strengthen family bonds, and work toward long-term stability.
Connections Across the Campus: Residents can access other Nevada Cares Campus programs, including the Resource Center, Safe Camp, Winter Overflow, and permanent housing resources, ensuring comprehensive support for the whole family.
Helping Families Stay Together and Move Forward
The Family Shelter prioritizes keeping families together while providing stability and care for both children and caregivers. Families are supported in accessing housing, educational resources, healthcare, and parenting guidance, helping them build stronger routines and achieve long-term security. Staff work with caregivers and children to create plans that foster family resilience, independence, and a foundation for a brighter future.
