Housing and Homeless Services

Joy Home

A Safe Haven and Path to Stability for Senior Women

Joy Home provides temporary shelter and supportive services specifically for senior women experiencing homelessness. The program offers a safe, welcoming environment where residents can meet their immediate needs, maintain independence, and access resources designed to promote long-term stability and well-being.

Serving older women, Joy Home focuses on creating an environment that addresses the unique challenges of aging while experiencing homelessness. Residents are supported with age-appropriate accommodations, healthcare coordination, and access to community resources that enhance quality of life, safety, and self-sufficiency.

How We Support Senior Women Experiencing Homelessness

Safe, Age-Appropriate Shelter: Residents have access to secure sleeping areas, meals, hygiene facilities, and a structured environment designed for comfort and dignity.

Health and Wellness Support: Joy Home provides connections to healthcare, behavioral health services, and wellness programs to help residents manage chronic conditions, maintain mental and physical health, and access preventative care.

Independence and Life Skills: Programs support daily living skills, personal empowerment, and social engagement, helping residents maintain independence while planning for future housing stability.

Connections to Community and Campus Resources: Residents are connected to the broader Nevada Cares Campus programs, including the Resource Center, Safe Camp, Winter Overflow, and permanent housing resources, ensuring a comprehensive network of support tailored to older adults.

Helping Residents Move Toward Stability

Joy Home provides more than temporary shelter, it offers senior women a secure place to regain confidence, restore routines, and plan for the future. By combining safe housing, wellness support, and access to campus and community resources, Joy Home helps residents transition from crisis to stability, independence, and a better quality of life.
