Built for Zero
BUILT FOR ZERO IS A NATIONAL MOVEMENT WORKING TO END HOMELESSNESS
Built for Zero is movement of more than 85 communities across the Country working to measurably end homelessness through changing how local housing systems work to ensure an end to homelessness that lasts, and leaves no one behind.
HOW BUILT FOR ZERO COMMUNITIES WORK DIFFERENTLY
The Built for Zero process leads communities through five phases:
Problem Solving Toolkit: Build an integrated, command center team that can take responsibility for getting to zero.
By- Name List: Build a comprehensive real-time, by-name list of all single adults experiencing homelessness in our community.
Reduce to Zero: Learn the science of testing improvement ideas in rapid cycles to drive monthly reductions in homelessness.
Sustaining Zero: Learn how to sustain functional zero for our target population.
Zero for All: Expand our focus to new target populations and drive toward ending all homelessness.
WASHOE COUNTY JOINED BUILT FOR ZERO APRIL 2020
This is an exciting project for our region.
This is a partnership between Washoe County, the City of Reno and the City of Sparks. There are 35 organizations that are part of the Built for Zero initiative in Washoe County. We have a core team, with representatives from each of the three jurisdictions and the Veterans Affairs. All team members are staff that provide homeless services in our community.
We are currently in the By-Name List phase
