Administrative Hearing Office

The Administrative Hearing Office (AHO) program within Washoe County facilitates hearings for various code violations when a citizen contests a code violation or does not voluntarily comply with code requirements within the county.

These hearings must be requested by the citizen within the time specified on the notice of civil penalty or other applicable notice (generally, within 30 days).  Hearings may also be requested by a county department or complaining party in certain cases.  Examples of these cases heard by the AHO include but are not limited to barking dogs, dangerous dogs, and non-compliance with Washoe County code concerning things like debris buildup, dangerous conditions or structures, etc.

The AHO adheres to specific sections of the Washoe County Code (WCC) that cover the subject matter at issue.  Below please find helpful codes:

The AHO is administered by staff at the Reno Justice Court.
