Community Drives and Donation Campaigns

Helping Children Thrive Through Community Support

The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) collaborates with community members and local organizations to provide essential items for children and families in need. Through donation drives and community-supported campaigns, we collect and distribute resources such as clothing, school supplies, and luggage. Every contribution, big or small, helps children feel supported, prepared, and empowered.

Whether you donate items, or help spread the word, you play a vital role in ensuring that every child in our community has what they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

Featured Drives

Stuff-a-Bus - Essentials for Children: Stuff-a-Bus is a community-wide initiative that collects new clothing and gift cards for children in need. Collection points are set up around Washoe County, making it easy for donors to participate. HSA staff collect and organize the donations, ensuring they are delivered directly to children and families who need them most.

School Supply Drives - Equipping Children for Success in the Classroom: Backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other classroom essentials are collected to help children in foster care start the school year prepared and confident. Donations ensure that every child has the tools they need to participate fully in school and focus on learning and growth.

Luggage & Personal Items Drive - Giving Children a Place to Keep Their Belongings: For children entering foster care or experiencing displacement, having a personal bag for their belongings is critical. This drive collects new or gently used suitcases, duffel bags, and backpacks, ensuring children can carry their personal items with dignity and security.

Why Your Participation Matters

Every contribution helps children feel supported, prepared, and valued while providing essential resources for safety, learning, and overall well-being. Participating in these drives also strengthens community connections and demonstrates that the community as a whole is invested in their success.

Stay Updated to Get Involved

HSA shares announcements, press releases, and social media posts about upcoming drives throughout the year. While exact dates may vary, drives are typically held in the late summer and fall to prepare children for the school year and during key community giving seasons.

Every action makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that children in Washoe County have the resources, tools, and support they need to thrive.
