Child Safety and Awareness

Raising Awareness to Protect, Support, and Empower Children

Children’s Awareness Initiatives highlight efforts to educate families, caregivers, and the community about key issues affecting children’s safety, health, and well-being. From promoting safe sleep for infants to preventing injuries and supporting mental health, these initiatives focus on sharing knowledge and encouraging proactive steps to create safe, nurturing environments for every child.

The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) works with families, caregivers, and community partners to raise awareness, provide reliable information, and foster community engagement around critical topics that impact children’s growth and development.

Our Approach to Awareness

Education and Information: We provide families, caregivers, and community members with clear, practical guidance on important child-focused topics. Resources include tip sheets, videos, workshops, social media campaigns, and community events designed to help caregivers make informed decisions that keep children safe and supported.

Promoting Healthy Practices: HSA awareness initiatives encourage safe and healthy practices in everyday life. This includes guidance on infant safe sleep, injury prevention, nutrition, mental health, and emotional well-being. By sharing actionable information, we empower caregivers and community members to take steps that make a meaningful difference in children’s lives.

Community Engagement: Through partnerships, outreach campaigns, and public events, HSA engages the community in understanding and addressing children’s needs. Awareness initiatives invite participation, foster shared responsibility, and promote lasting change in family and community practices.
