The Washoe Regional Behavioral Health Policy Board gives local leaders an active voice in decisions related to behavioral health in the region.

About the Board

The Washoe Regional Behavioral Health Policy Board was established through legislation during the 79th session of the Nevada Legislature. The Board brings together community members, providers, advocates, and public agency partners to identify regional behavioral health priorities, support system improvement efforts, and make recommendations that improve access to mental health and substance use services throughout the region.

Board responsibilities

Collaboration

Collaborate with regional behavioral health boards, community partners, providers, and stakeholders to identify needs and support coordinated statewide recommendations and resource alignment.

Legislative advocacy

Each regional behavioral health board can develop and present a Bill Draft Request during each legislative session.

Key priorities

Support regional efforts related to crisis response, substance misuse and recovery services, children’s behavioral health, workforce capacity, and diversion and deflection strategies.

Meetings

The board meets regularly with county leadership, public and private agencies, and stakeholders to assess needs and strengthen cross-system coordination.

Board connections

The WRBHPB coordinates with the Nevada 988 Crisis Response Coalition on crisis system planning and policy development.
