What Is a Sample Ballot?

Every registered voter in Washoe County gets a Sample Ballot before each election. This document serves as a guide only and cannot be used to cast your vote. Instead, it helps you prepare by showing what will be on your official ballot and providing important details about voting options and locations.

What You’ll Find in Your Sample Ballot

Your Sample Ballot includes:

  • The candidates and offices that will appear on your actual ballot, based on your residential address.
  • The three ways you can vote:
    • Return your ballot by mail.
    • Drop off your mail-in ballot at any Vote Center.
    • Vote in person during early voting or on Election Day.
  • Locations and hours for all Washoe County Vote Centers. You no longer need to vote at a specific polling place; you can choose the location that’s most convenient for you.
  • Instructions and tips for marking and returning your mail-in ballot or using voting machines at Vote Centers.

Why It Matters

Your Sample Ballot is more than just a preview; it’s a planning tool. Reviewing it ahead of time helps you know what to expect, where to go, and how to cast your vote with confidence.
