Voting Options
You have options for how to vote.
Nevada is a mail ballot state, meaning all active registered voters will automatically receive a mail ballot unless they decide to opt out. If you prefer the convenience of voting from home, just fill out your ballot, sign the return envelope, and send it back by mail or drop it off at any secure drop box location during the voting period.
If you want to vote in person, you still can, whether or not you received a mail ballot. Washoe County has many early voting and Election Day vote centers. You can vote at any location that is most convenient for you. If you bring your mail ballot, you'll need to surrender it before voting on a machine. If you don’t have it, you’ll have to sign a statement saying you have not already voted.
Our goal is to make voting accessible, secure, and easy for all eligible Washoe County voters. Whether you choose to vote by mail or in person, you can pick the method that suits you best and be confident that your vote will be counted.
It is illegal to vote more than once in the same election. When voting in-person, you will be required to sign a legal statement affirming you have not already voted by mail, in-person, or any other methods.
Attempting to vote twice is a felony under Nevada law and may result in criminal prosecution.
