Reno, Nev. Sept. 17, 2019. The following report highlights several important agenda items from the Washoe County Board of Commissioners meeting:

1. Board of County Commissioners issue multiple proclamations:

  • Commissioners proclaim September 24, 2019 as National Voter Registration Day. The proclamation celebrates National Voter Registration Day on the fourth Tuesday in September, serving as a single day where we reaffirm a strong sense of civic pride and encourage our fellow citizens to register to vote.
  • Commissioners proclaim October 2, 2019 as International Walk to School Day. The proclamation encourages physical activity, promotes pedestrian and bicycle safety and helps eliminate morning rush hour traffic.
  • Commissioners proclaim October 2019 as Infant Safe Sleep Awareness Month. The proclamation aims to prevent Sudden Unexplained Infant Deaths and promote safe sleep practices.
  • Commissioners proclaim October 2019 as National Community Planning Month. The proclamation recognizes the importance of community planning and the many valuable contributions made by professional planning and support staff of Washoe County Community Services Department.
  • Commissioners proclaim October 2019 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The proclamation recognizes and supports employees and their families who are currently battling, those who have survived the battle and remembers employees who have lost the battle, to breast cancer.

Commissioners heard an overview on the 80th Legislative Session that included bills introduced, bills monitored by Washoe County and fiscal note requests responded to by Washoe County.
