The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced that Christopher James Hildenstab 41, of Reno, has been sentenced as a habitual criminal to a term of 150 months in prison. Hildenstab pled guilty to one count of Burglary in July of this year, his eighth felony conviction and fifth burglary conviction.  Hildendstab’s record contained prior convictions for charges of burglary, attempted burglary, drug offenses and forgery.  Hildenstab will be eligible for parole after five years are served.

In January, detectives with the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Unit identified Hildenstab as a suspect in multiple vehicle burglary and package theft cases.  Hildenstab was subsequently arrested and a search of his vehicle located burglary tools, gloves, and a window punch.  Additional items stolen from a reported vehicle burglary were also located.

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office partners with the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program on cases involving habitual criminals. In commenting on the sentencing, District Attorney Chris Hicks stated, “The D.A.’s office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to seek lengthy sentences in these cases as a way to prevent new victims from falling prey to career criminals.”
