SAMPLE GAS PIPE SCHEMATIC <Figure> Alt Text: "A completed gas piping schematic diagram detailing system design metrics and an isometric pipe layout starting from a gas meter. The system design parameters are listed as: Total BTUs is 260,000; Longest Run is 90 feet; Gas Type is Natural; Piping Material is Schedule 40 Metallic Pipe; Inlet Pressure is Less than 2 psi; Pressure Drop is 0.5 inches water column; and Specific Gravity is 0.60. The schematic layout shows a gas meter feeding a main line that runs 10 feet at 1-1/4 inches before splitting into four branches. The main trunk tapers sequentially from 20 feet at 1-1/4 inches, to 20 feet at 1 inch, and finally 20 feet at 3/4 inches. Branch 1 serves a Furnace (110,000 BTU, 50-foot total run) via a 20-foot, 3/4-inch vertical pipe. Branch 2 serves a Kitchen Range (65,000 BTU, 57-foot total run) via a 7-foot, 1/2-inch vertical pipe. Branch 3 serves a 50-gallon Water Heater (50,000 BTU, 90-foot total run) via a 20-foot, 1/2-inch vertical pipe. Branch 4 serves a Clothes Dryer (35,000 BTU, 75-foot total run) via a 5-foot, 1/2-inch vertical pipe.
