Board of County Commissioners

The Carson-Truckee Water Conservancy District (CTWCD) Board of Directors is tasked with maintaining the 14,000 cubic feet per second (CFS) capacity of the Truckee River and working in conjunction with Washoe County and the City of Reno, who maintain their stretches of the river. The main purpose of the District is to facilitate upstream storage development, maintain and operate the Truckee River, conserve water resources, promote river restoration, and combat noxious weeds; and overall goal to support projects that enhance water management and utilization within its jurisdiction.

The Board of County Commissioners will nominate at least two candidates, for one to be selected and appointed by the Governor of the State of Nevada to serve on this district.

Membership

This will be for a four-year term, starting at the time of appointment by the Governor and ending on December 31, 2028. Nomination and potential reappointment can be sought thereafer.

Time Commitment

The CTWCD meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, except in May, when the meeting is held on the 3rd Tuesday. There is also an annual budget hearing.

Special meetings may also be held at the call of the President or a majority of Directors. In addition to its ten members, the Board of Directors has a non-member Secretary/Treasurer, who performs daily functions of the District.
