Volunteer Position: Nutrition Site Volunteer

Position Overview

The Nutrition Site Volunteer supports congregate meal site operations by assisting with meal preparation, service, and cleanup. This position reports directly to the Program Coordinator and Human Services Support Specialist staff. The role requires reliability, confidentiality, and compassion for older adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with morning kitchen preparation and general kitchen duties.
  • Support lunch service by serving soup, assisting seniors to their tables, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Clean the lunchroom by clearing dishes, disposing of trash, and wiping down tables and chairs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all aspects of service and participant information.

Strengths and Qualifications Needed

  • Team-oriented and dependable.
  • Willingness to assist where needed.
  • Respectful and courteous.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items (up to approximately 25 lbs).
  • Food service experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to complete required training, including food safety training if applicable.
