Background: The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)
(Added on October 6, 2025) Unfortunately, the current federal administration has cancelled many energy-efficiency, low-emissions and renewable-energy technology incentives and rebates. Washoe County is currently researching the status of available rebates and other incentives. We will update this page when we have more information to share.
Energy bills are too high for too many Americans, and climate change is getting worse. To address these challenges, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is an ambitious federal investment in jobs, clean energy, and pollution reduction. The IRA created many financial incentives to help home and business owners reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and save on energy bills.
Nevada residents are now eligible to take advantage of tax credits presented by the IRA, making it easier and more affordable to upgrade to energy-efficient appliances, electric vehicles, and clean energy systems. Transitioning to clean electricity not only helps lower energy costs for households and businesses, but helps Nevada achieve its greenhouse gas reduction target of net zero emissions by 2050.
