Transportation Options

Do you want to attend Older Americans Month events, but don't know how you will get there? Our community partners are here to help!

RTC FlexRIDE: Their fixed-route bus service makes it easy to travel to the May 2026 events celebrating Older Americans Month. RTC offers on-demand transportation in select areas, including Sparks-Spanish Springs, North Valleys, Somersett-Verdi, and South Meadows, for added convenience. RTC Senior Ride/Taxi Bucks/Lyft/Uber: In addition, RTC provides $60 worth of free taxi rides each month for residents aged 60 and over, veterans, and RTC Access clients of any age within the Reno-Sparks area. Visit RTC's 4th Street Station at the Reno bus terminal to apply. If you prefer rideshare services, eligible riders can receive $60 in free Lyft or Uber rides each month instead.

Neighbor Network of Northern Nevada (N4) offers Reno/Sparks elders 60+ a monthly $80 of free Lyft rides inside Washoe County, and another $80 worth for $40. Folks with disabilities of any age pay $40 for $80 of Lyft monthly. Call them at (775) 453-4774 or visit their website at www.neighbornv.org.

Access to Health Care has free transportation for people with Medicare to medical appointments, getting prescriptions and groceries. Call them at (877) 385-2345 or go online to www.accesstohealthcare.org. Check with your own medical plan to see if they offer this benefit. Call 2-1-1 for more statewide services.

UNR's Sanford Center for Aging offers free transportation for Washoe residents 60+ and need transportation for medical appointments, groceries, or errands. Call (775) 784-4774 or email them at sanfordmobility@unr.edu

Learn to Play Beanbag Baseball with the Washoe County Misfits Team

Growing Well Together: Natural Dye Workshop - Using Plants in Creative Ways
Discover the art and science of natural dyes in this creative, hands-on workshop, offered in collaboration with AARP Nevada. Participants will explore the basics of natural dyeing and watercolor creation while learning about common native and invasive plants in our region. We’ll discuss creative ways to source dye materials and then head into the fields of Reno Food Systems to gather plant materials for use as botanical pigments. Each participant will dye a bandana (provided by Reno Food Systems) and take home both their finished piece and their watercolor artwork. Please bring a jar with a lid to transport your bandana home. Gloves are optional.
