This scenic river park offers a welcoming day-use retreat where visitors can relax and connect with nature. The park features individual picnic sites nestled along the Truckee River, a peaceful hiking trail that follows the river’s edge, and convenient access for fishing in the Truckee River. A designated portage around the Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) dam allows for safe and easy river travel.

Popular activities include birdwatching, hiking, fishing, river tubing, and enjoying leisurely picnics in the natural surroundings. Fully handicap-accessible and conveniently located along Highway 40, the park provides an inviting outdoor experience for visitors of all abilities.

Picnic groups of 25 or more are required to obtain a group-use permit and use a designated reservable area elsewhere. Visit the Park Rentals & Permit page or contact reserveparks@washoecounty.gov or 775-823-6501 for more information.
