Volunteer Opportunities

There are various volunteer opportunities at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum. Contact our volunteer coordinator (info below) for more information and availability!

BECOME AN ARBORETUM GARDEN VOLUNTEER

Volunteer days are normally Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning and volunteers are able to work at their own pace as their schedule allows. Volunteer tasks will vary based on the individual's skill level, and periodic trainings on various subjects are offered. Some sample projects include pruning, deadheading, raking, weeding, sweeping, planting, and a variety of other general garden beautification projects.

INSPIRE IMAGINATION AT THE DISCOVERY ROOM

The Discovery Room is a place where kids can learn, play, and express their imagination! This free room has been around for generations and is the perfect place for parents with little ones to have free, family fun. It is run by dedicated volunteers and we're always looking for more support on the select days the room opens up during summertime.

BECOME AN INTERPRETER OF THE ARBORETUM

The mission of Interpreters of the Arboretum is to inspire visitors and support the educational programming at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum & Botanical Garden. We offer a variety of programs for schools and the community, such as "Little Sprouts" and "Weekend Nature Walks". Gain hands on experience in environmental education, explore your passion for nature, and inspire the community!

VOLUNTEER AS A GROUP (WEEKDAYS ONLY)

We are always excited when an organization or local business would like to spend some time volunteering as a group at the Arboretum. Spend anywhere from a couple hours to an afternoon helping us accomplish a larger task while having fun in a beautiful setting!
