A Sun Valley woman has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 16 years, after she pled guilty to 2nd Degree Murder.

Karri Walters, age 50, previously pled guilty to shooting her husband, Terrance Kim, in the head on January 19, 2022. While interviewing neighbors, Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies learned that the couple had been abusing alcohol for years and that they had a history of arguments and law enforcement being called.

During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Nicole Hicks argued that this case involved a woman who had been abusing alcohol since she was 19-years-old, she was frustrated, angry, and intoxicated and she took the life of man who was loved by his family and friends.

The Honorable Judge Kathleen Drakulich presided over the trial and imposed the sentencing.
