The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has secured a conviction in an Unlawful Dissemination of an Intimate Image case. 59-year-old Kent Robertson was also found guilty of Unlawful Capture, Distribution, Display or Publish Image of the Private Area of Another Person, following a three-day jury trial.
In November of 2021, a 37-year-old woman went to the Reno Police Department and reported that Robertson sent sexually explicit videos of the victim to her and her boyfriend; videos that she did not know existed and had not consented to. According to the woman, she and her boyfriend had been roommates with Robertson and his wife for 8 months, beginning in 2020. The victim told police she and Robertson had a short-term relationship and when she ended it, Robertson refused to accept the situation and continuously sent her text messages. The defendant then sent pictures and video clips to the victim’s boyfriend, with Robertson claiming he had more.
During the trial, Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Reichenberg argued that Robertson knew he could no longer control the victim, so he sent the videos in an attempt to shame the victim and drive a wedge between her and her boyfriend.
The Honorable Judge Egan Walker presided over the trial. Sentencing is set for August 9, 2023.
