Find birth & death records in Washoe County at new location

July 26, 2022. Reno/Sparks, Nev. – The Washoe County Health District – Vital Statistics office has moved to a new location but is still within the main WCHD location at 1001 E. 9th St., Building B, in Reno.

The Vital Statistics office, which is widely used for birth and death certificates of Washoe County residents, is now located on the east end of Building B of the Washoe County Administration Complex and no longer in the main lobby of the Health District – see map of new location here.

The Vital Statistics Office serves as the registrar for all births and deaths occurring in Washoe County from the late 1800s to present. For more information on birth and death certificates, go to our website.

The new counter for Vital Statistics was formerly the front counter for Air Quality Management Division (AQMD) services. For residents who need to drop off AQMD documents, they can do so at the Environmental Health Services counter on the second floor of Building B off the main lobby. Residents who have air-quality questions or need AQMD services, please visit www.OurCleanAir.com or call 775-784-7200.

As a reminder, the Vital Statistics Office does not handle Washoe County marriage or divorce certificates; contact the Washoe County Clerk regarding marriage documents and the District Court regarding divorce documents in Washoe County.

The Washoe County Health District is nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board and has jurisdiction over all public health matters in Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County through the policy-making Washoe County District Board of Health. The District consists of five divisions: Administrative Health Services, Air Quality Management, Community and Clinical Health Services, Environmental Health Services and Epidemiology & Public Health Preparedness. More info can be found here.
