Child Sexual Predator Sentenced
Lengthy Prison Sentence Secured Against Sparks Defendant

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced that Titus Gabril Tau, age 24 (dob 2/13/97)from Sparks has been sentenced to two concurrent 15-year prison terms after pleading guilty to one count of Attempt to Use or Permit Minor, Age 14 or Older to Be Subject of Sexual Portrayal in a Performance and one count or Prepare, Advertise or Distribute Material Depicting Pornography Involving Minor. Based on the sentence received, Tau must serve a minimum of 6 years in prison before parole eligibility begins and will be subject to lifetime supervision as a sex offender once released.

In July of last year, detectives with the Regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Unit began investigation Tau in connection with the exploitation of a 17-year-old male victim. The investigation determined that Tau had formed a relationship with the victim in order to involve him in sexual activities that also included the exchange of child pornography. An undercover operation was conducted to engage Tau in conversations with detectives and a meet was arranged to make the arrest. Tau was taken into custody and this office filed formal criminal charges against him.  

During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney (DDA )Nicole Hicks argued that the child pornography exchanged involved children as young as 1 years old to 12 years old. DDA Hicks added that each time the images were exchanged and viewed, the involved children were re-victimized.
