General Election voting locations announced
Voters will have the choice to mail in their ballots, drop them off, or vote in person.
The Washoe County Registrar of Voters released polling locations and voting hours for the 2020 General Election.
For this year’s General Election, all registered voters will be sent a ballot in the mail, and voters will have the choice to complete them and mail them back, drop them off at secure location, or vote in person.
In previous elections, voters had to show up at their designated precinct location on Election Day, but that is not the case anymore. Voters may show up at any of the available vote centers during early voting or on Election Day regardless of where they live in Washoe County. Voters may also drop their completed mail-in ballot at any early voting, Election Day, or ballot drop-off location for this election.
“Voters are no longer limited as to where they can vote," Registrar of Voters Deanna Spikula said. "There are now more opportunities than ever for voters to participate in the electoral process with the use of vote centers in Washoe County during early voting and on Election Day and the addition of ballot drop-off locations.”
Early voting is available 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 17-30, and there will be 15 locations in Washoe County where voters can vote in person or drop off their already-completed ballot. There will be an additional 15 locations for ballot drop-off only.
Election Day is November 3, and as with early voting, voters can mail their ballot, vote in person or drop off their ballots.
Election Day polling sites are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and there will be 29 locations to either vote in person or drop off your ballot, and 15 locations reserved only for ballot drop-off.
“Washoe County is dedicated to providing citizens with every opportunity available to register and vote in every election," Spikula said. "Voting, whether by paper ballot or in-person, is safe and secure in Nevada and instances of voter fraud are extremely rare.”
Precautions will be taken at every location to ensure proper social distancing. Masks and temperature scans will be required for poll workers and voters, and surfaces will be routinely sanitized. Spikula recommends you prepare before you go to vote by accessing the Washoe County Voting Wait Time on the registrar's website to find out where the most convenient voting location may be and what the current wait time is.
