One recovery and 17 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Washoe County

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center today is reporting 17 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County and one recovery.
 

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 281
  • Deaths: 4
  • Recoveries: 30
  • Active cases: 247
  • Hospitalizations: 21

 
Note: This is the first of two press releases that will be sent by the Regional Information Team. The second press release will be issued this afternoon and will have other jurisdictional updates but not necessarily updated COVID-19 case count information.

 

The Regional Information Center today is also reporting the following messages for public awareness and education.

Alternative Care Site Planned for Reno-Sparks Convention Center
The Washoe COVID-19 Incident Management Team is preparing to deploy an Alternative Care Site (ACS) at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center to aid in the COVID-19 response in Washoe County.

The ACS branch is working with the Army Corps of Engineers to determine logistics for the facility, in addition to identifying the specific population that would use the facility, staffing and supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). More details will be provided when the plan is finalized.

Virtual Town Hall Series
Have a question about COVID-19? The upcoming Virtual Town Hall is for designed for you - an opportunity to directly address our communities' questions live by a panel of experts and elected officials - virtually. Throughout the month of April, Washoe County, the City of Reno and the City of Sparks, the Washoe County Health District and our regional partners will be hosting a series of Live Virtual Town Halls events to ensure you stay in the know on the latest COVID-19 information.
 
Kicking off this Friday, April 10, if you have a question about COVID-19 healthcare response delivery, submit it with through the form here and your question could be answered live at our first Virtual Town Hall on April 10. Stay tuned on our social media channels for coming details on how to watch live this Friday. 
 
How Do I Get Tested for COVID-19
Residents can learn more about whether they should request a COVID-19 test by viewing the following video resource. The Washoe County Health Department will work with patients to identify next steps if you test positive for COVID-19, as well as those that test negative.

How to Make a Face Covering
COVID-19 has been shown to spread between people interacting in close-proximity even when those people are not showing symptoms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has adjusted its recommendations to recommend wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month
The Human Services Agency’s (HSA) Children’s Services Division continues to provide essential services to ensure the well-being and safety of children in Washoe County during the COVID-19 outbreak. HSA asks the public to remain vigilant in helping protect our most vulnerable children. Please call 833-900-SAFE immediately if you suspect child abuse and/or neglect. April is National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month. To learn more head to our website.

Nota: Este es el primero de dos comunicados de prensa que enviará el Centro de Información Regional.  El segundo comunicado de prensa se emitirá esta tarde y tendrá otras actualizaciones de varias entidades gubernamentales regionales, pero no información necesariamente actualizada de COVID-19 casos.


Sitio de atención alternativa planificado para el Centro de convenciones Reno-Sparks
El Equipo de Manejo de Incidentes COVID-19 de Washoe se está preparando un Sitio de Cuidado Alternativo (ACS) en el Centro de Convenciones Reno-Sparks para ayudar en la respuesta COVID-19 en el Condado de Washoe.

El ACS está trabajando con el Army Corps of Engineers para determinar la logística de la instalación, identificar la población específica que usaría la instalación, el personal y el suministro de Equipo de Protección Personal (PPE). Se proporcionarán más detalles cuando se finalice el plan.

¿Cómo me hago la prueba de COVID-19?
Los residentes pueden obtener más información sobre si deben solicitar una prueba COVID-19 viendo el siguiente video. El Departamento de Salud del Condado de Washoe trabajará con los pacientes para identificar los próximos pasos si su resultado es positivo para COVID-19, así como también aquellos que resulten negativos.

Cómo hacer máscaras de tela que cubre la cara 
Se ha demostrado que COVID-19 se propaga entre las personas que interactúan cerca de uno al otro, incluso cuando esas personas no muestran síntomas.
