Second Washoe County Resident Recovers From COVID-19
Health District reminds residents of travel advisory
Reno/Sparks, Nev. March 22, 2020 – A second Washoe County resident has fully recovered from COVID-19 and was released from self-isolation today, the Washoe County Health District announced. The case was a man in his 60s.
In addition, no new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Washoe County as of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, but testing is ongoing throughout the evening. The total case count in Washoe County remains at 25. That number includes all cases, both current and those who have recovered.
Health District reminds residents of travel advisory
As a reminder, the Health District is advising that anyone who has traveled out of state or by airline should self-isolate and monitor symptoms for a period of 14 days following their return in order to take precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Washoe County. Individuals who develop symptoms should contact their healthcare provider or the Health District at 775-328-2427.
Community Foundation of Western Nevada Announces COVID-19 Relief Fund for Northern Nevada
In cooperation with the City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County, the Community Foundation of Western Nevada has opened a charitable relief fund to help address needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic in northern Nevada. The COVID-19 Relief Fund will distribute grants to individuals, businesses, governmental services and charitable nonprofits. More info here.

Washoe County Detention Facility inmates to receive free phone calls
Increased social distancing precautions at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility are causing changes to normal visiting procedures and the company that provides the jail’s current phone system just implemented a new program to provide inmates with free weekly phone calls during the next four weeks. We know these times are difficult and unprecedented. For essential businesses that are open, thank you for implementing social distancing. For grocery stores offering dedicated shopping times for seniors, we thank you and urge you to make certain they are standing at least six feet apart.
We’d also like to encourage community members throughout Reno, Sparks and Washoe County to help our most vulnerable population, including seniors, with shopping and other needs. We are all in this together!
