Reno, Nev. Sept. 4, 2019. Big, beautiful, hot air balloons will fill Reno’s summer sky this week, as thousands of visitors are expected to gather at Washoe County’s Rancho San Rafael Regional Park for the 38th Great Reno Balloon Race. Washoe County Parks staff has spent weeks preparing to welcome visitors this Friday through Sunday to take in the spectacular sights and sounds of the 2019 Great Reno Balloon Race.

A major sponsor since 2013, Washoe County’s award-winning Rancho San Rafael Regional Park has been home to the world renowned balloon race since it began in 1982. Boasting more than 574 acres of pastureland, the park also features the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Museum, 3 pavilions, a ranch house and a brand new Arboretum Greenhouse.

Rancho San Rafael Regional Park is the perfect, and only, backdrop for this internationally-known event which features the spectacular Glow Show, Dawn Patrol and Mass Ascension every morning of the event.

When:  Sept. 6-8, 2019 Gates to the park open at 3:30 a.m., with the Glow Show beginning at 5 a.m.
