Sentencing in CAC Case
Conviction on Lewdness with a Child Charges Results in Life Sentences

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced the sentencing result in the most recent Washoe County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) case.  The prosecution is the result of an investigation into a lewdness with a child case investigated by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and handled as part of the CAC’s multi-disciplinary team approach to these cases.  Following a guilty plea to two counts of Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of 14 Years in May, Alexander Ryan Jensen, 34, from Sun Valley was sentenced Wednesday to two consecutive life terms of imprisonment for having molested a 10 year old female victim over the course of several weeks.  The sentences ensure the defendant must serve 20 years in prison before parole eligibility begins.

The case against Jensen began in December, 2017 when the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of possible sexual abuse of a child by counselors at a local elementary school. Detectives were called in to conduct an investigation and determined that the victim had disclosed instances of abuse by a relative to school personnel.  The victim was interviewed at the CAC and based on the evidence obtained in the investigation, Jensen was arrested and CAC Prosecutor Nicole Hicks filed formal criminal charges against him. 

At sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Nickolas Graham argued that little children should be treasured, not used for perverse sexual gratification, as Jensen had done.
