Reno, Nev. May 21, 2018. Due to a fire alarm activation that triggered sprinkler systems in the Mills B. Lane Justice Center, specifically on the 4th floor of the Washoe County District Attorney’s (WCDA) Office, the WCDA closed today with the Reno Justice Court (RJC) and the Second Judicial Justice Court (SDJC) remaining open. However, tomorrow the Mills B. Lane Justice Center will be open to the public.

While the WCDA’s Office will re-open tomorrow morning there will be some public area restrictions. The Criminal and Civil Divisions will continue normal operations. The Victim Witness Assistance Center (VWAC) and Records Division will operate as usual for members of the public, including services for witnesses and victims. The Family Support Division will be operational, but will have limited public access. Family Support is expected to return to normal operation next week.

Testing for Washoe County's Sober 24 program, located at 1530 E. 6th St., Reno, continued today unaffected and will continue normal business operations tomorrow.

“Everyone’s due process was fulfilled today,” said Dexter Thomas, Court Administrator for Reno Justice Court. “While access to justice today was delayed, it was not denied to anyone due to this event.”

Anyone with a scheduled appointment is asked to contact their caseworker prior to coming to the office.
