First local International Overdose Awareness Day event

RENO, NV - On Thursday, August 31, 2017, people around the world will participate in International Overdose Awareness Day to raise awareness of drug overdoses, their impact on communities, and that overdoses are preventable.

In Washoe County, agencies from the Truckee Meadows will come together to organize the first local International Overdose Awareness Day event. Participants will gather at the “Believe” sign in downtown Reno, and then walk to Wingfield Park in a remembrance activity which will also acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends of those who have met with death or permanent injury resulting from drug overdoses. Everyone is encouraged to be part of this important event.

  • When: 5:30 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017
  • Where: Starting at Reno City Plaza’s "Believe" sign at 10 North Virginia Street, and ending in Wingfield Park at 2 South Arlington Avenue
  • Cost: Free

This event is hosted by: Join Together Northern Nevada, Washoe County Health District, Quest Counseling and Consulting Inc., Washoe County Human Services Agency, Northern Nevada HOPES, Bristlecone Family Resources and ACCEPT.
