ONE Regional License and Permits Program Launched
Collaboration of Washoe County, City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County Health District.
Washoe County, Nevada (February 27, 2017) — A new online business license and building permits program was recently launched in Washoe County, starting a new era of regional cooperation. The Cities of Reno and Sparks, Washoe County, and Washoe County Health District have collaborated to bring a single online portal that enables citizens to do business and permitting regardless of where they are building or conducting commerce in Washoe County.
The system, known as ONE, replaces the individual applications of each of the four jurisdictions and provides a one stop shop for all. ONE will make it easier to do business in the region and will ultimately enhance economic development efforts.
ONE allows for centralized shopping for anyone applying for licenses and/or permits without having to physically submit applications to jurisdictions. The online service will not only reduce time and costs, but will also give customers the ability to track the status of applications online, submit electronic documents associated with applications, and pay fees online. Users will also be able to renew their existing business license and permits on the web.
ONE facilitates the flow of license and permit information between the four jurisdictions creating a unified database which will enable the sharing of common customer information and reduce the need for customers to enter their information multiple times within the program.
Customers will still be able to submit licenses and/or permit applications in person at a particular jurisdiction if they wish to do so.
“During this time of growth and progress, I truly appreciate the cooperative effort of Reno, Washoe County, and the Health District to make it easier to do business in our area,” said Sparks Mayor Geno Martini. “Our customers can virtually take care of all their business permits and licenses for the City of Sparks in the comfort of their own home or office, saving time and money. This is a significant milestone for commerce in the Truckee Meadows,” he said.
“In our ever-changing world of new technology, ONE is a system that makes sense to implement now in an effort to make it easier for our valued citizens to conduct business within our County,” said Bob Lucey, Chair of the Washoe County Board of Commissioners. “ONE aligns with a significant part of the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners’ Strategic Plan to be a regional and community leader when it comes to playing a proactive role in economic development.”
