Erick Willrich joined the County Manager’s Office in 2021 after serving for six years in administrative and management roles at the Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA). He most recently managed HSA’s 36 facilities and coordinated more than 345 remote work stations during the COVID pandemic. He was the lead coordinator for HSA on Continuity of Operations Planning and Shelter Operations Manager for the county’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Willrich honed his leadership and management skills serving in the Nevada Army National Guard for more than 23 years, including a deployment to Iraq and Kuwait. He proved a mastery of logistics overseeing the daily planning for executive level military staff, and managing the full-time force of 167 soldiers and airmen for the Nevada National Guard. As a Traffic Management Specialist in the National Guard, Willrich managed a 149-vehicle fleet worth nearly $4 million, and oversaw a $3 million budget with zero shortfalls. Willrich proudly served as the state lead in Military Funeral Honors Program, performing more than 300 military funeral honors.
Notably, Willrich graduated magna cum laude from Ashford University in San Diego, California, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management. He also holds two Associate Degrees in Fire Science and General Studies from Truckee Meadows Community College and numerous certificates.
When not managing the day-to-day operations of the Washoe County Manager’s Office, Willrich enjoys, hiking, biking, camping and running, and spending time with his family and dogs. He and Abby and their blended family make each day a wonderful place to be.
