  Workforce Development 

Workforce Development provides Strategic Workforce Planning, Succession Management, Individual Development Plans, Learning and Performance, and all related training.

The following is a general description of Human Resource Workforce Development functions and is not inclusive of all responsibilities of the Human Resources Workforce Development. 

  • Workforce planning research, analysis and action plan development 
  • Learning and Performance
  • Succession Management  
  • Strategic Workforce Planning in departments  
  • Support employees with Individual Development Plans linked to county priorities 
  • Manage and implement County Training program in alignment with Board of County Commissioners priorities, goals and objectives.

Note:  Manager's Toolkits are now available on the Learning Center as well as at Manager's Toolkits webpage.  Learning Center is accessed through the intranet, Inside Washoe.


 New Employee Orientation

This training is designed to introduce new employees to Washoe County and provide them information that is critical to successful employment with the organization.  It includes an overview of County Mission, Vision, Values, Strategic Priorities and organizational structure and functions; an overview of the benefits of County employment and a review of critical County policies. 

   Learning Center

Current Washoe County employees need to register for classes through the online Washoe County Learning Center - Bridge accessed through the intranet, Inside Washoe. 

  Other Training Resources

Washoe County supports the ongoing development and training of its workforce.  Therefore, the County has implemented several programs to encourage and support its employees in their endeavors to learn and grow.  To find out more, go to Continuing Education

Regional Public Safety Training Center provides training resources and educational opportunities for public safety personnel.
