Incentive Programs

The Washoe County Recruitment Incentive Program includes a hiring incentive payment with 50% of the amount paid upon hire and 50% paid after one year and successful completion of probation for selected full time positions, provided the new hire/employee are still in the position and in good performance standing.  The following selected positions currently qualify under the Washoe County Recruitment Incentive Program. 

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Public Health Nurse I/II
  • Mental Health Counselor I/II
  • Assistant Medical Examiner / Deputy Chief Medical Examiner

The APRN, Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse I/II, and Mental Health Counselor I/II are eligible for a $2,500 Recruitment Incentive and the Assistant Medical Examiner and Deputy Chief Medical Examiner are eligible for a $5,000 Recruitment Incentive.

Washoe County offers a $500 Employee Incentive Referral Program to current employees who refer a candidate who is hired into one of the selected full time positions.  To qualify for the Employee Incentive, candidates MUST enter the referring employees’ name in the applicable field on the online application, at the time of application.  Employees will not be considered for an Incentive Referral after a candidate has submitted an application or been hired into the position if the employee’s name is not recorded at the time of application.

If the above requirement is met, the Washoe County Employee Incentive Referral Program includes a referral incentive payment of $500 paid to the referring employee upon hire.
