Donate & Volunteer

hand with a heart in the middleWe welcome those interested in donating unused personal protective equipment or volunteering to assist with COVID-19 response efforts, but we’re reminding the public that self-isolation is the most important action you can take to help prevent spread of COVID-19 during this pandemic.

The Washoe County Health District (WCHD) Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is accepting volunteer registrations of public health, medical, and other individuals. If you are interested in sharing your medical experience as a volunteer and sign up as a Washoe County MRC at Learn more about the MRC process here.

The COVID-19 Incident Management Team (IMT) is accepting donations of sterile, unopened Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from businesses. In order to effectively manage these donations, the IMT is asking for any of the following:

  • Masks – N95, surgical or dust
  • Gloves
  • Gowns
  • Face shields
  • Protective eyewear

Businesses that have ceased operations or have excess stock should call Washoe 311 (Dial 3-1-1) or email if they have these unopened, sterile items.  If the material is needed by the IMT, a representative of the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) will contact the business to arrange pick-up or delivery.
