Cottage Food Operations

A "cottage food operation," as defined by Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 446; Senate Bill 206, means a natural person who manufactures or prepares food items in a non-food establishment setting for sale to a natural person.

In Washoe County, such operations are required to register with Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH). Both forms: Cottage Food Operation Registration and Permit to Operate Application must be submitted to NNPH. Once approved, NNPH will provide a letter verifying approval. Farm-to-Fork Events

A "farm-to-fork," as defined by Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 446; Assembly Bill 200, allows farms to hold farm-to-fork events in certain circumstances without being considered a food establishment for purposes of inspections by the health authority.

In Washoe County, such farms are required to register with the local health authority. Both forms: Farm-To-Fork Registration and Permit to Operate Application must be submitted to Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH). Once approved, NNPH will provide a letter verifying approval. Craft Foods

Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) does not permit craft food operations. If you are interested in making, selling or distributing craft foods in Washoe County, please contact the Nevada Department of Agriculture for additional permitting information.
