Lemmon Valley Update

Our region experienced a combination of weather patterns beginning in the fall of 2016 that resulted in record setting snowfall, rain with subsequent runoff that created localized flooding.  Particularly impacted were the closed hydro-basins in Lemmon Valley and Stead.  For additional information on activities please visit this website or call Washoe311 at 3-1-1, (775) 328-2003, or email washoe311@washoecounty.us.

Algae Update:

10/1/18 Algae Update:

With the lowering temperatures, the concentration of algae present in Swan Lake has reduced to a level of: Not Detected based on the most current sample results collected on 9/20/18. No further sampling or testing is warranted this season.  This course of action is consistent with the recommendation from the State of Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health and their review of the samples.

Based on EPA and CDC guidance documents for the type and concentrations of algae present in Swan Lake, the recommended course of action is continued monitoring. Samples will be taken again within the next week, and one more time one week after that sample.  With the lowering temperatures verification is needed as to whether the concentration is staying steady or decreasing.  This course of action is consistent with the recommendation from the State of Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health and their review of the samples.
